'Look at that stare' - Manchester United fans loved Casemiro's reaction to Gavi challenge during Bar

Manchester United fans have been wowed by Casemiro's reaction to a challenge from Gavi during the 2-2 draw with Barcelona.

The Brazilian midfielder delivered a combative performance in United's Europa League play-off first-leg at the Camp Nou.

He had missed the last two Premier League matches due to suspension and will miss this weekend’s clash against Leicester.

Now, fans have been praising his commitment to the cause and were impressed by his feistiness during the game.

There was a moment in the 75th minute when Manchester United were leading and Barcelona youngster Gavi was trying to launch an attack but was stopped by Casemiro.

As they approached the Manchester United goal, Casemiro held firm as the ball rolled out of play to ensure his side got the goal kick and the attack led to nothing.

He gave Gavi a stare as the youngster barged into him, but the experienced Brazilian showed no signs of stress.

He then proceeded to give Varane a chest bump as the team celebrated every ball they won with Erik ten Hag’s side close to a famous win at the Camp Nou.

Fans were certainly happy to see Casemiro's performance, with one taking to Twitter to say: "Nah Casemiro is him. Look at that stare and hug to Varane, I love this guy," while another referred to him as 'the boss'.

Unfortunately for Casemiro and Manchester United, they conceded a goal not long after this as Raphinha’s cross-turned-shot crept into the net past David de Gea to level things up for the Catalans.

It was Casemiro’s stray pass that led to the Barcelona attack which ended up in the equalising goal and Manchester United resisted a late surge from the home side to come away with a draw.

Casemiro does have history of fiery clashes against Barcelona and at the Camp Nou after a decade playing for Real Madrid.

Ten Hag was happy with his team’s performance but frustrated to come away with just a draw as Manchester United will have it all to play for at Old Trafford when Barcelona visit in the second leg.

Ideally, he would’ve liked a little more comfort given his side play a League Cup final against Newcastle United just three days after that tie.
